Protest against the radical cut in the dutch cultural sector and more specifically a protest against the way it is handled by the government. Until the 27 of June we invite every organization/institution, big or small, related to art and culture to cover the facade of their building with a black material tagged with a white painted symbol "X", during 3 days.
Let living art and culture be major actors for the growth of our consciousness and our economy!

THE MARCH OF CIVILIZATION
The March of Civilization is an initiative led by artists and art lovers.
The march:
June 26. 8 pm, March leaves from Boijmans van Beuningen in Rotterdam and will arrive in The Hague around 3 am. June 27. 3 am - 9 am. Overnight possibilities in The Hague.
June 27. noon. Start gathering at Malieveld. Protest will commence at 15:30.
June 27. 1 pm. Arrival Malieveld. From here we will march to the Binnenhof and end around 3.30 pm with a starting shot for persisting protest against the clear-cut of this country.
For those who's spirit is stronger than their body: join in later on!

Save Mediamatic, Waag society, WORM, STEIM, NIMK, V2_, Submarine Channel. When the budget cuts for arts and culture are accepted by Parliament on Monday June 27th, all New Media Art institutions in The Netherlands will lose their funding. Institutional support for New Media culture will come to a grinding halt. From 2013 onwards there will be no development platform for New Media Art in The Netherlands. Please help us prevent this from happening by signing the petition. If you have a mailing list or a website, please spread the petition and this information. The loss of funding will not only destroy the Dutch infrastructure, but will disrupt the international New Media Arts network as well.
Sustaining the Dutch infrastructure for New Media Art requires a mere 1% of the national arts budget. Help us prevent this destruction and retain
support for New Media Art.
